Hi Jim,
I recently purchased the litho proof of Manifistation from my friend/client Terry Etherton. I worked with a gentleman 15 years ago who has the same litho as well. I enjoyed the piece then, never forgot it, always wanted it, and now I have it to enjoy. Thank you for your fine work. I would like to share my art with you via a haircut at my salon-

I had the privelege of seeing your showing at the U of A Museum of Art. I was a student there then. Your work blew my hair back. It articulated those particular mysterious one may have when then enter a house that has been dwelled in for many years by many different people and you wonder, what, when, whom and what they must have been like. I strive for the same thing in my own work. Thank you.

I am curious about the value of a painting of an Albino gorilla, which I purchsed from Jim in the 170's. It is an oil about 4' by 6'. My soon to be late, ex husband is giving it to his current friend and I am just wondering what value it might have.

Hi Jim, I remember you from Wichita, circa 1965. I was an oboist friend of Mary Kollat. I have been trying to locate her in Seattle and saw her addition to your guestbook. If you ever followed up on her note, do you know how I could get in touch with her? an email address? I presently live in Maracaibo, Venezuela and am on my way back to Wichita after 37 years out of the country, so I am desperatly looking for my old lost friends. Let me know if you can and mil gracias.

Dear Jim:
Came across your website and realized how many years it has been since we spoke at Rancho Linda Vista. Your work has stayed with me since I was a student at the UA in Tucson. Your visits to my studio on Speedway from 1986-88 are clear in my memory. You would come over early in the morning and we would have coffee. I still paint and teach art to elementary kids now and have many great recollections of Tucson and that wonderful desert light that Bruce McGrew would always talk about. Your work is simply something wonderful to behold. Many thanks.

I admire and love your paintings and prints. I am a former student, at UF and wish that I had asked more questions and been more nosey. I've been away from art for awhile and am making a return. reading, painting, drawing, getting ready to make some woodcuts. what kind of graduate students do 40 somethings make? not a chance of getting a job, I guess but what a great experience it would be.do you think it is worth it at a later age?

Hi Jim,
My son, James found this sight and sent it to me. ( When we painted in my basement in Harper, he was the one we put in the card board box to keep him out of trouble. Oh, the years. Agnes and Dorothy passed away a few years ago and I do miss them. I followed their tracks and collected a great deal of you art work which I display in my house. I love every one of the pieces you did. I consider you a great talent! I did send off for you catalog and look at your recent pictures. Do let me hear from you. Kansas is still hot, and yes, we still talk about the weather a great deal. :)

Mr. Davis, you work has been a constant source of inspiration since I stumbled on to a book of your paintings in the mid 80s while a grad student. In the early 90s , driving north on Virginia Ave in Reno, Nevada, heading downtown after a long night of bartending, out of the corner of my eye I caught the slightest glimpse of a painting in the widow of the Stremmel gallery. I suddenly called out to my girlfriend to stop, adding Ill be damned, thats a James G, Davis painting in the window! What the hell is he doing in Reno? That was a tough time for me as a painter and viewing those paintings (everyday for several weeks) helped me keep painting. Thanks James G.
Thursday, April 13, 2006, Michael Lauterbach
I enjoy your work Jim. Only wish that I wasn't so immature and impatient to have you over to my studio when I was at U of A. I saw a painting of yours with a fish in it...it eluded to the strangest dream. Best of luck to you.

Huge, huge fan of JGD's work. Just wish I could afford one. Visted Yares Gallery years ago to see them "in the flesh" and still won't forget that. Often pour over the 25 yr retrospective book and can look for hours at JGD paintings. Glad to have found this website. Superb, simply superb.

And now emerges a violinist ghost from your '65 Wichita days --- the cemetary, Skip Harwick, et. al.
Had long career as professional violinist -- eventually found the Pacific Northwest and never left. Became acquainted with collectors Bagley & Virginia Wright. My son and daughter are both artists --- Erik is a painter -- represented by the Hang Gallery in San Francisco. Kristen works in wood -- designs and creates beautiful furniture. So wonderful to have re-found you and your awesome mind's work.
